We are expanding our public sector vertical and seeking an experieced leader to define and execute our growth strategy, shape tailored solutions for public sector clients, and lead high-quality, strategic responses to public tenders and framework agreements.

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced leader to head up our new public sector vertical, focusing on expanding our footprint, securing high-value contracts, and shaping tailored solutions for public clients. As the leader of this vertical, you will play a critical role in shaping Merkle’s reputation as a trusted public sector partner, while driving measurable growth and influence. This role combines strategic business development, deep public sector expertise, and a consultative approach to driving impact.

You will be responsible for:

  • Growth & Strategy: Defining and executing the public sector vertical strategy, identifying market opportunities, and developing go-to-market approaches.
  • Policy Awareness: Staying ahead of government policies, funding programs, and digital transformation initiatives to align Merkle’s offerings with emerging public sector needs.
  • Public Tender Leadership: Leading the qualification, response, and negotiation of public tenders and framework agreements. Ensuring high-quality, compliant, and competitive submissions.
  • Capability Building: Developing a strong public sector offering, collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance solutions tailored for government entities.
  • Client & Stakeholder Management: Establishing trusted relationships with key public sector clients, engaging C-level decision-makers, and driving long-term partnerships.
  • Representation and Engagement: Representing Merkle at public sector conferences, industry events, and government innovation forums to enhance our visibility and influence.
  • Team Leadership: Building and leading a future team of specialists focused on public sector growth and delivery excellence as the vertical builds out
  • Collaboration within Dentsu: Partnering with internal teams across Dentsu to leverage best practices and expand our influence in the public sector domain.

What Success Looks Like


Your success in this role will be defined by your ability to drive meaningful outcomes for Merkle’s public sector vertical. This includes measurable growth in key areas, the successful delivery of high-impact projects, and the establishment of a strong foundation for future expansion. Specifically, we are looking for achievements in the following areas:

  • Growth in public sector revenue and client base.
  • Increase in win rates for public tenders and framework agreements.
  • Development of a high-performing team and scalable offerings.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 7+ years of experience in business development, consulting, or account leadership within the public sector.
  • Proven success in managing and winning public tenders, including navigating complex procurement processes.
  • Strong strategic mindset with the ability to craft compelling solutions tailored to public sector challenges.
  • Experience in driving digital transformation, CX, data analytics, or enterprise technology initiatives specifically tailored to public sector clients.
  • Deep understanding of public sector challenges and trends, including digitalization, sustainability, and public service delivery.
  • Ability to build and scale a vertical, including defining service offerings, building teams, and driving market engagement.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, capable of influencing senior stakeholders and representing Merkle effectively in public sector forums.
  • Familiarity with public procurement regulations, compliance requirements, and government frameworks.
  • Fluency in Danish & English; additional regional language skills are a plus.
